Over the last few months, the Alien Times has lost some of its veteran staff members. As the A.T. strives to be a community newspaper, it is important that people in the community contribute their ideas and articles and/or information. The A.T. encourages interested people to get involved and help to continue this vital source of information for the English-speaking (or at least reading) community.
A word about the publication schedule: Due to summer vacations, this issue is a joint July-August edition that is supplemented by a Summer Special edition. The next issue will not be until September. Normally, the Alien Times is published around the middle of the month. This is partly due to the fact that the city hall produced Tsukuba Newsletter comes out on the first of each month, and so have the A.T. coming out at a different time helps to cover the available information better. With the September issue, however, due to the summer layoff, every effort will be made to put it out early, hopefully during the first week.
Anyway, keep those articles coming in!
The International Women's Network (IWN) is a group of women who enjoy chatting with people from all over the world. We hold a monthly potluck dinner where we exchange information about the local community while eating a variety of foods. No reservation is needed to attend the potluck. Just bring one dish of food and show up at the meeting. Newcomers are always welcome! Take advantage of this unique opportunity to enjoy the international city of Tsukuba with us!
