Foreign Buyers Club Group Orders: August 1996

Author: Author unknown, Issue: August 1996, Topic: Shopping

Foreign Buyers Club Group Orders Two order sessions for the Foreign Buyers Club are scheduled for the fall. The semi-annual Tsukuba International School benefit order will take place on September 22nd, but as that is a bit long to wait for placing an order after the summer holidays, we will also place an order at the end of August (with ordering session on August 25 at 4 pm at the YMCA/Christian Center) for those who are in a hurry to get things.

For those of you not familiar with FBC, they have three catalogs of mostly American products that can be ordered for direct importation. The main catalog consists mostly of packaged or canned food items, toiletry items, vitamins, etc, while the Deli catalog lists cheeses and frozen meats, etc. from around the world. There is also a book catalog featuring the latest best sellers, videos, etc. The advantage of ordering with the group is that you don't have to personally become a member of FBC, you can split cases of items you only want a few of (most items have to be ordered in cases), and the shipping costs are split several ways.

For the larger (we hope) September order, FBC will give the school a 5% rebate of the entire general catalog order, and as a group, we also match that (using our volume discount), giving a total of 10% to the school. If you cannot be there at either ordering session, you can still join the order by the following Thursday at the latest and as long as you order full cases (or trial cases for certain items). For more information and/or catalogs, call Tim Boyle at 55-1907.
