The Tsukuba Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a hike along one of the "100 Chosen Roads" of Japan, namely the one oing up Mt. Tsukuba on September 23. The official entrants are limited to 350 people, though there is certainly nothing to prevent others from tagging along behind. The event begins at 7:30 Sunday morning on the 23rd, where the registration takes place prior to the 8:30 am start. Participants are to gather at Kitajo at the Tsukuba Kenmin Center off of Route 125. There is an entrance fee of a whopping 100 yen, and those who are interested should call (or have a Japanese speaking friend call) 67-0343 to sign up. The event closes by 1 pm, with a short closing ceremony.

The International Women's Network (IWN) is a group of women who enjoy chatting with people from all over the world. We hold a monthly potluck dinner where we exchange information about the local community while eating a variety of foods. No reservation is needed to attend the potluck. Just bring one dish of food and show up at the meeting. Newcomers are always welcome! Take advantage of this unique opportunity to enjoy the international city of Tsukuba with us!
