If you haven't yet been to this museum of natural history, it is well worth a visit. Located in Iwai (now Bando City) about 40 min. southwest of Tsukuba, it is a new museum that is one of the premier museums in all of Japan. In addition to all of its regular displays, there will be a special display on marsh life through Feb. 18, when the museum will close down through the end of Feb. for refurbishing.
The museum is closed on Mondays (unless Monday is a holiday, in which case, it is closed Tuesdays). Tel. 0297-38-2000 for information.
