Japanese Classes To Begin in April
The Tsukuba Cultural Foundation will sponsor Japanese classes from April through September, with classes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, depending on level. The classes will consist of 6 levels with a limit of 15 students each, with the introductory and beginner classes (beginner defined as those who know a few phrases and have memorized hiragana and katakana) and a more advanced class entitled "Write and Learn" (for people who want to learn Kanji in addition to Hiragana and Katakana) beginning on Tuesday, April 4 going through September 26. The two levels of intermediate classes, along with a more advanced class entitled "Nihongo no Kai" (for those who speak "everyday Japanese" and want to learn more about Japanese culture) are on Wednesdays from April 5 through Sept. 27. All classes will be held at the Capio Hall next to Daiei from 6:30 to 8:00 pm.
There is a small tuition charge of 6000 yen for first timers and 5000 yen for those who have participated in previous years, and the textbooks are the responsibility of the student to purchase on the first day of class.
The registration period is during all of March. Application forms are available at the Tsukuba Cultural Foundation (in the back of Capio Hall) from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on weekdays (except Mondays). For more info, call the office at 56-7007 and ask for Ms. Yoshiba, Ms. Ohki or Ms. Miyamoto.
The International Women's Network (IWN) is a group of women who enjoy chatting with people from all over the world. We hold a monthly potluck dinner where we exchange information about the local community while eating a variety of foods. No reservation is needed to attend the potluck. Just bring one dish of food and show up at the meeting. Newcomers are always welcome! Take advantage of this unique opportunity to enjoy the international city of Tsukuba with us!
