TIVONA is the group of volunteer Japanese language teachers at Tsukuba Cultural Foundation. They have taught Japanese to about 2,000 foreigners from 70 different countries over the past 14 years, and they currently have about 100 students. They offer six classes: four in basic Japanese, one advanced class, and a reading and writing class.
The classes take place every Tuesday and Thursday evening from 6:30pm to 8pm at Tsukuba Capio. Foreign people who live or work in Tsukuba (or who have family living or working in Tsukuba) are eligible to join these classes.
