TV Shows

Author:Sarah Stark, Issue: September 2004, Topic: Television

Here's a list of TV programms that I recommend, either cause they're really funny or good for learning Japanese. However, I don't watch all of those myself. The ones I watch when I've got some time are Tokyo wankei, Uchimura Produce, gakkou he ikou, sui-juu, and Matthew's Best Hit TV.

Weekdays
8:15-8:30 NHK1 ("morning drama", I think the current one is called "Tenka")

Monday:
21:00 Fuji TV Tokyo Wankei (cheesy TV drama, only 12 eps in all, should be over soon)
22:15 Fuji TV SMAP x SMAP (EVERYBODY's darling SMAP
23:15 Fuji TV Ainori (funny travel-reality TV-love-show)
23:30 (time varies) Asahi Uchimura Produce (hilarious improvisation skits)

Tuesday:
20:00 TBS gakkou he ikou (this is what your kids watch. and yours truely)
21:00 Asahi London Hearts (love-cheating-comedy show)

Wednesday:
21:00 Fuji TV Trivia no Izumi (Trivia show featuring the most annoying sound on TV)
22:00 Fuji TV sui-juu (hilarious comedy, you won't need any Japanese for this madness)\\ 23:15 Asahi Matthew's Best Hit TV (you'll have seen this show in Lost in Translation. I love Matthew!)

Thursday:
19:00 Fuji TV Who wants to be a millionaire (Jpn version)
20:00 TBS Utaban (music)

Friday:
20:00 Asahi Music Station (music)
21:00 TBS kin'suma (errr... comedy? variety?)

Saturday:
22:00 Nihon TV enta no kami-sama (comedy)

Sunday:
19:00 TBS sanma no super-karakuri TV (comedy)
20:00 NHK Shin-sen-gumi (historic drama)
