A "Tsukuba Orientation for Foreign Residents" is going to be held in April!
Please see the details below (or on our website) and consider volunteering to participate in the discussions that will shape this important event!
Tsukuba will hold its first ever orientation for foreign residents on April 28, 2007 at Tsukuba Capio with the cooperation of Tsukuba City Hall, Alien Times, and other local organizations. We are working with various individuals and organizations in the Tsukuba community to offer an event that will help newcomers to our city learn important information about living in Tsukuba.
The schedule will be decided by the Tsukuba Orientation Committee in consultation with the foreign population. We are hoping to offer several seminars on various aspects of life in Tsukuba, including information that is relevant to students, researchers, teachers, and others.
We are still in the planning stages of this event and we are looking for volunteers to help us make the event meaningful and memorable. If you have ideas about how we can make this event a success, please consider joining the Tsukuba Orientation Committee.
Due to the busy nature of our volunteers, we will likely have an initial meeting and then conduct most of our organizing by email and telephone. If you are interested in helping, either by attending our planning meeting or joining our mailing list and participating in discussions, please send an email to the following address.
Here are some articles that discuss the idea of having a Tsukuba Orientation.
The official website of Tsukuba Orientation is http://tsukubaorientation.alientimes.org. We will post information about the orientation on the website as it becomes available.
The official mailing list of Tsukuba Orientation is http://groups.yahoo.com/group/tsukubaorientation/. If you would like to join the list, please send an email to tsukubaorientation-subscribe[AT]yahoogroups.com.
If you have any questions or comments for the Committee, please contact us at tsukubaorientation[AT]gmail.com. We appreciate your input!
The International Women's Network (IWN) is a group of women who enjoy chatting with people from all over the world. We hold a monthly potluck dinner where we exchange information about the local community while eating a variety of foods. No reservation is needed to attend the potluck. Just bring one dish of food and show up at the meeting. Newcomers are always welcome! Take advantage of this unique opportunity to enjoy the international city of Tsukuba with us!
