Finding reasonably priced books in English is near impossible -- unless you know about this used book store -- Caravan Books. They are located in Tokyo but their entire inventory is online and you can order online and have it shipped to you anywhere in Japan. You can choose to pay online or pay upon delivery. And since the books are used, they are usually extremely cheap compared to Amazon and other books stores.
The website is http://www.infinitybooksjapan.com/.
