Ushiku Kappa Matsuri Song

Author: Shaney Crawford, Issue: September 2005, Topic: Tourism, Events, Japanese Culture

I went to the Kappa Matsuri on July 31 and found a copy of the lyrics to the Kappa Bayashi song. I thought I would share it with AT readers. I have included a romaji transliteration so you can sing along at the festival next year.

Kappa Bayashi

In Japanese...

In romaji...

Hora Hora...
Yappe Yappe...

Haaa...
Ushiku numa ni wa kappa ga gozaru (Sore...)
Kappa, dare no ko, Usen no ko (Ah, doshita)
Kao mo, sugata mo Nihon ichi
A, soda, soda
Yappe Yappe

Haaa...
Marui atami ni, osara o nosete
Suika batake wo burabura to
Hana ka dango ka yoi kigen

Haaa...
Saita ayame to makomo no naka wo
Doko e iku yara, misaobune
Kyou mo miokuru kappa matsu

Haaa...
Inarigawabata Mikazukibashi de
Tsureru ano koi, donna koi
Aitakatta no, ikina koi

Haaa...
